As Director and Founder of Porter Radiation Oncology, a Radiation Oncology Freestanding center Accredited by the American College of Radiology, Dr. Alan Porter draws on more than 40 years of professional experience. He received his doctor of medicine from the University of Florida, where he also completed his residency. He Fellowship trained at MD Anderson Hospital as well. Dr. Alan Porter stood out among his peers as chief resident and clinical instructor during his postgraduate years. He remains a distinguished physician and 24-year member of the "Best Doctors in America" database, which lists only those physicians that have qualified via an extensive peer review process.

Actively involved in his professional community, Dr. Alan Porter stands out as a Consultant to Medicare-Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Florida and a member of the Physicians Advisory Council. He has served as past President of the Florida Radiological Society, the Sarasota County Medical Society, the Florida Society of Clinical Oncology, and the American Cancer Society. In addition, Dr. Porter was a founding trustee of the Hospice Foundation of Sarasota, Manatee, and Charlotte Counties in Florida.
